Chrysoprase is an olive green-to-deep green version of the cryptocrystalline form of silica, called chalcedony, containing trace amounts of nickel. Cryptocrystalline is a term for a gemstone composed of microscopic crystals that can only be seen under magnification. This stone gets its name from the Greek words chrysos and prasinon meaning ‘gold’ and ‘green’. Chrysoprase, a stone of growth, love, hope and forgiveness, is believed to encourage both acceptance and positivity.
