Every Lunar New Year brings a new animal, a new rhythm, and a new opportunity to move forward with intention. The Year of the Horse is all about momentum, trusting your instincts, leaning into freedom, and galloping toward what lights you up.
It’s Lunar New Year — Not Just “Chinese” New Year
A quick but important note: while many people refer to it as “Chinese New Year,” the more accurate term is Lunar New Year.
The holiday follows the lunar calendar and is celebrated across many cultures and countries — including Vietnam (Tết), Korea (Seollal), Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond. Each region brings its own traditions, foods, and customs, but the zodiac animals remain a shared thread.
We love honoring that broader perspective. It reminds us that gemstones, like cultural traditions, travel across borders, and gather meaning as they go.
What the Fire Horse Represents
While this is the Year of the Horse, this cycle specifically honors the Fire Horse, one of the most dynamic expressions of the zodiac.
The Fire Horse carries all the classic traits of Horse energy — independence, charisma, intelligence, and drive — but amplified with the intensity of the Fire element.
- Freedom & independence
- Confidence & magnetism
- Quick thinking & adaptability
- Ambition & forward momentum
- Passion-fueled action
- Fearless self-expression
There’s something deeply inspiring about Fire Horse energy. It’s about movement, not reckless rushing, but purposeful motion fueled by inner spark. It’s about trusting your own stride while fully owning your intensity.
In jewelry form, the Fire Horse becomes a reminder: stay bold, stay lit from within, and don’t let yourself be fenced in.

Wearing the Year of the Horse
We’re honoring the Lunar New Year with our Golden Mane Horse Head Charm Builder C-Clasp — but this piece is far from seasonal.
Designed to move easily between charm necklaces, it’s a symbol meant to be worn year-round. Whether the Lunar calendar holds meaning or there’s simply a love for horses, this charm was created to resonate on a personal level.
The inspiration is close to home: our founder has long been drawn to collecting horse artwork. When these hand-carved mother-of-pearl horse beads were discovered, the flowing mane and luminous finish immediately stood out. It was one of those pieces that felt destined to join the Luna Norte collection.
The Lunar New Year simply gave it an added layer of meaning.
For a complete, versatile look that captures the powerful spirit of this Lunar Year, we’re excited to introduce the Fire Horse Charm Builder Starter Necklace.
This ready-to-wear paperclip chain is designed with Luna Norte’s signature charm-builder concept, each charm is fully removable and repositionable — making it easy to layer, edit, or wear the chain on its own for everyday styling.
Start with the curated set and personalize it over time by adding new charms to make them look entirely your own.

What Lunar New Year Means for Luna Norte
Because we partner with trusted suppliers around the world — including one of our longtime manufacturing teams in China — Lunar New Year isn’t just symbolic for us. It directly shapes part of our production calendar. When the holiday begins, our China-based factory closes so their team can travel home and celebrate with family.
And during that time, our pace shifts too.
There are fewer production updates to review and a pause in the late-night coordination that often comes with global time zones. For a brief window, things naturally slow — and we’ve come to welcome that rhythm.
It creates space to catch our breath, regroup, and focus on the work that often gets pushed aside during busier holiday months: thoughtful inventory reviews, workflow refinements, design planning, and internal strategy sessions.
While the Fire Horse represents momentum and forward motion, this pause allows us to move ahead more intentionally. It’s clarity before acceleration — a cycle we’ve come to deeply respect.
A Note from the Founder
This time of year, always gives me a moment to pause and take a breath, something I’ve learned to truly value.
I spend time looking closely at what genuinely resonated: the pieces customers reached for again and again, the styles that told a story, the designs that felt like they mattered. From there, the real work begins, refining, reimagining, and thoughtfully designing for the seasons ahead.
I’ve always been drawn to horses. Over the years I’ve collected horse artwork in many forms, and to me they’ve come to represent freedom, strength, intuition, and forward movement. There’s a quiet confidence in their presence that I return to often when thinking about where Luna Norte is headed next.
Behind the scenes, this is also when we reset our foundation — reviewing inventory, fine-tuning workflows, and aligning our small but mighty team so we can move forward with clarity and purpose.
Like the horse that inspired this season, I believe in taking a thoughtful pause… and then moving forward with steady, creative momentum.
— Inspired by the ride ahead, Founder, Luna Norte
As we welcome the Year of the Horse, we’re leaning into momentum — but with intention.
Here’s to new paths, steady strides, and jewelry that tells a story far bigger than itself.
