Sunstone Earrings

Sunstone is an orange, red, or yellow member of the feldspar family (alongside Labradorite and Moonstone). It gets its color from the presence of copper platelets within the stone which transmit a reddish or pink color. It is often compared to the sun for its miraculous shimmer effect, called aventurescence or the “Schiller” effect. This phenomena allows the stone to appear sparkly and metallic-looking due to reflective inclusions in the form of flat layers within the stone. Sunstone is believed to ward off negativity and to encourage a positive disposition. It is thought to inspire confidence and empowerment, and to promote originality.
