Quartz is a crystalline mineral formed when magma flows over and cools in igneous rocks; or it can also be formed in geothermal waters. Clear Quartz, or ‘Rock Crystal Quartz’, is often found with multiple facets and inter-growths with adjacent quartz crystals, giving it an ice-like appearance. For this reason, it was once believed to be permanently frozen ice. It comes in a variety of colors, and some display a spectrum of color due to light bouncing and refracting off of its different internal layers. Quartz can be used to purify and clarify the spiritual, mental and physical planes, clearing away negative energy and increasing inspiration and creativity.
