Onyx is of the chalcedony variety with inter-growths of quartz and morganite. It often forms as stalactites and stalagmites, which are icicle-like shapes tapering down from the ceiling and rising from the floor of the interior of a cave. It comes in shades of red, brown, and orange; often with white banded inclusions of chalcedony. When faced with challenges, onyx is believed to inspire personal power, focus and strength.
