Chrysocolla is a stone composed of hydrated copper that has oxidized to a light green or blue, found in deposits. It forms in icicle-like shapes called stalactites. In ancient Greece, Chrysocolla was used to weld gold, giving it its name which is a combination of the Greek words chrysos and kolla meaning ‘gold’ and ‘glue’. Associated with communication, Chrysocolla is believed to encourage self-expression and empowerment. Thought to encourage balance, it is said to both stimulate the mind while calming emotions.
