Chalcedony is a large group of gemstones made up of cryptocrystalline silica and quartz. It is most commonly found in shades of gray and brown. The chalcedony used in jewelry is available in a wide variety of colors. Carnelian, Onyx, Chrysocolla and Chrysoprase are just a few stones that fall into this category. Chalcedony is believed to promote peace and to balance the mind, body and spirit. It is also known as the “Speaker’s Stone,” improving verbal dexterity.
